On September 26 and 27, SKANDIX was once again represented at the Volvo Klassieker Beurs at the Autotron Rosmalen. The 34th edition was held under the theme “Creatief met Volvo” and attracted significantly more visitors than in previous years. Consequently, things were just as lively at our booth.

We showcased numerous new products for Volvo as well as a small selection of Saab replacement parts. Selected used parts were also part of our offering once again, providing plenty of opportunities to browse and talk shop.

We were particularly delighted by the many personal encounters. Seeing familiar faces again and making new connections is one of the best parts of the show for us. In a great atmosphere, we talked about classic cars, current projects, and the right replacement parts; we shared experiences and laughed together.

The visitor parking lot once again invited visitors to take a leisurely stroll. The variety of vehicles on display made it a special gathering place for everyone passionate about Volvo—for looking, taking photos, and, of course, more car talk.

The SKANDIX team would like to thank all visitors for their great interest and the wonderful conversations. We’d also like to thank the organizers for making this special gathering of the Volvo community possible.

Although the weather presented us with a few challenges this year, a good 200 weather-resistant Volvo enthusiasts—despite the “high humidity”—made their way to Neumünster with their cars, and the remarkable variety of vehicles made the day a huge success!

To our great delight, many of our fellow Volvo enthusiasts from Sweden and Denmark joined us once again, as well as attendees from nearly all over Germany. It’s not something to take for granted that someone would make the long drive just to spend the day with us.

It’s especially nice to notice the incredible variety of license plates among the lineup of cars. The high level of acceptance for the event across such a large catchment area confirms the success of the regulars’ group’s efforts.

It was also a particular pleasure to be able to present each participating vehicle with a small surprise, thanks to our sponsors—a gesture that was gratefully received.

Equally gratifying was the significant increase this year in the number of guests who came without a Volvo, just to “take a look.” This allowed many to reminisce (“I used to have one of those…”) and perhaps even find themselves wanting to acquire such a gem.

The selection was once again made possible by the complete model range. In addition to the “Buckel,” “Amazon,” and all subsequent models, this year’s event also featured four “Valp” models with different original uses, two former hearses, a decommissioned ambulance, and—as is tradition—a few Saabs. So the grounds were refreshingly colorful.

In addition, visitors were once again able to enjoy the old steam locomotives and all the other treasures at the Kulturlokschuppen Neumünster, which had also opened its doors. Old cars and old railroad history went together perfectly last year and will continue to be part of our event in the future. There’s more to marvel at than just cars. Anyone who’s ever stood next to a steam locomotive weighing around 160 metric tons will surely find themselves captivated by these massive technical relics.

In the tent and on the grounds, there were, of course, plenty of opportunities to refuel with tasty treats and chat with like-minded people.

Anticipation is building in the Volvo community: On August 30, 2026, the Volvo Stammtisch Schleswig-Holstein is hosting what will be its 19th Volvo meetup. Following last year’s huge success, the event will once again take place on the grounds of the KulturLokschuppen Neumünster—a venue that proved to be the ideal location in 2025.

Already at the last meet, the new concept—developed in collaboration with the KulturLokschuppen—drew a veritable flood of visitors. The number of participating vehicles rose significantly, bringing over 200 Volvo models from a wide range of generations to Neumünster. For 2026, the Stammtisch is now setting its sights on the next major milestone: around 300 vehicles from all eras of Volvo history are expected.

As a result, the meet has long since made a name for itself far beyond Schleswig-Holstein. The event is now one of the largest privately organized Volvo meets in Germany and is an integral part of the scene. Specialized and classic car publications, as well as regional media, regularly cover the event.

The international response is particularly impressive: Visitors from Scandinavia, the Benelux countries, and all over Germany travel to Neumünster every year to celebrate their shared passion for the Swedish brand. Reports from partner clubs—including those from Denmark and Sweden—underscore the event’s excellent reputation far beyond the state’s borders.

The KulturLokschuppen grounds not only offer ample space for the ever-growing number of vehicles but also provide a very special atmosphere. Set against a backdrop of historic railway history and classic Swedish steel, the event fosters exactly the kind of encounters and car-related conversations that make for a great brand gathering.

Of course, the popular program highlights will not be missing in 2026 either: a trunk sale, food and drink, and plenty of space for technical discussions and exchanges among Volvo fans are firmly on the agenda.

This year’s focus is on motorsports. In the Legends Hall, a major special exhibition will showcase the fascinating racing history of Volvo and Saab. From Volvo’s famous “flying bricks” to the successful Saab rally cars on snow and gravel, the passion for Swedish motorsports history comes to life here.

Alternating between the Fulda and Northern Germany regions, this year’s destination for the 240 and 260 drivers was the Lüneburg Heath. And they came from far and wide, as was evident at first glance from their license plates: from all parts of Germany, as well as the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and even Spain.

The meeting point was the Heiderose, where the first participants arrived as early as Friday and then, after breakfast at the hotel on Saturday, May 30, 2026, welcomed the arriving Volvos. It is a close-knit community that remains loyal to this model series, which embodies Volvo’s qualities like almost no other. At every gathering, new participants join the group; they are warmly welcomed and get to experience the variety of models in this series. The Swedish cars offered an interesting contrast to the numerous horse-drawn carriages inviting visitors to take a ride through the nature reserve. “There have never been so many carriages here before,” remarked one guest humorously as he strolled past the colorful line of Volvos on the hotel grounds.

The morning was all about reunions and sharing experiences and developments. After all, hidden under some of these hoods is a powerhouse that transforms the Volvo 200—which at first glance seems rather unassuming—into a “turbocharged” speedster.

The condition of the participating vehicles was consistently impressive and demonstrates their proverbial durability. Many of the six-digit odometers have clocked several hundred thousand kilometers and give the impression that they still have plenty of life left in them. For a brief moment, one Volvo came to a standstill—the water pump had failed. But among the 200-series drivers, that was no big deal: a water pump replacement in the parking lot—problem solved.

After a quick lunch snack, Karsten and Christiane Schwob welcomed the participants and handed out the roadbook. The raffle is also a tradition, with prizes from generous sponsors up for grabs. But no one goes home empty-handed, as everyone traditionally receives a well-stocked sponsor package. The bag from “Finck & Claus,” the Swedish Gifflar cinnamon buns from Pagen, gifts from SKANDIX, an issue of NORDIS, and the popular rally sign, which, as usual, was also sponsored by SKANDIX. Christiane created the “Heide-Drive 240/260 Edition,” a refreshing lavender-spearmint spray made from essential oils.
We’d also like to thank the Volvo dealership Bröhan and, above all, Volvo Germany for their sponsorship.

Thus well-equipped, the group set off on a tour through the picturesque Nordheide to “Der Schafstall,” a quaint farm café serving delicious homemade pies and cakes.

The evening revolved around a barbecue buffet, where the Volvo community could enjoy the early summer evening in the garden of the Heiderose. Those who wanted to spend another night in the heath village of Undeloh had the opportunity on Sunday to take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the vast Heide nature reserve.

Nearly 50 Volvos, ranging from the 242 to the 240 Turbo, accepted the invitation from Karsten Schwob, the founder of this gathering, and are already looking forward to the 22nd event, which will once again take place in the Fulda area. A big thank you to the sponsors and to Karsten and Christiane, who once again organized a great gathering!

It has already been 40 years since Volvo introduced the 480, its first front-wheel-drive model. The sporty shooting brake followed the P1800 “Snow White’s Coffin” and served as an important technological showcase for engineering and lightweight construction for the Swedish automaker. The fact that the model failed to achieve a major breakthrough at the time—due to the lack of exports to the U.S.—does not diminish the large number of enthusiasts who gathered in the Cologne area from May 22–25, 2026, to celebrate this special anniversary.

The experienced team led by Jan Wichert (DE), Thijs Dijkstra (NL), and Martin Percival (UK) had already organized an international gathering in 2024, bringing together the 480 community across borders with just over 100 vehicles. This number of vehicles and fans—which was already unusually large at the time—was to be significantly surpassed once again for the 40th anniversary. To this end, planning began two years before the Pentecost weekend in 2026, with potential locations identified and routes evaluated—quite a risk given the uncertain number of participants.

The Hotel Schützenhof in Eitorf was chosen as the base for most participants, a decision that proved to be a stroke of luck in terms of amenities, parking, and service.

Mass gathering at the horse racing track

The first item on the agenda was the grand gathering of as many vehicles as possible on the grounds of the Kölner Renn-Verein 1897 e.V. One by one, the Volvo 480 drivers and their cars arrived and were immediately welcomed, assigned their numbers, and directed to park in rows on a sufficiently large grassy area between the grandstand and the racetrack. Thanks to the excellent organization and volunteer helpers, this process went off smoothly and efficiently without causing major traffic congestion on public roads. The arriving drivers were delighted to receive a goody bag containing Volvo 480 merchandise, a Volvo water bottle, and WD-40-sponsored lubricant.

Guests from near and far

After arriving, the owners gathered on the historic grandstand. Ms. De Bellis-Olinger, Mayor of the City of Cologne, kicked off the event with a passionate speech. She impressed the audience with her expertise and set the tone for an unforgettable weekend for the approximately 370 participants and guests.

Cornelis (Cor) Streenstra had a significantly longer journey. As a former member of Volvo’s design team, he played an active role in the design of the 480 convertible and Phase II between 1983 and 1988. He now lives in the U.S. and, thanks to support from Volvo Car Germany, made the long trip to Cologne to share his fascinating insights.

It was all the more fitting that Volvo Group Heritage / World of Volvo spontaneously agreed to send one of the open-top 480 prototypes to Germany. Attendees were able to marvel at the street-legal concept car, parked between the grandstand and the nearly 200 Volvo 480s.

Awards for Special Vehicles

Also in attendance was the widow of Volvo 480 designer John des Vries, who passed away in 2025 and had been a frequent guest at such gatherings over the past decades. Janny de Vries presented the “People’s Choice Award” and honored her husband’s legacy.

A jury selected additional vehicles and their owners for the “480 Awards” presented by Skandix, based on age, condition, and mileage. A Polish 480 driver received the People’s Choice Award for his rig featuring a custom-built 480 trailer. The award for the longest journey went narrowly to a participant from Portugal, who, having traveled nearly 2,400 km each way, had driven just a few kilometers farther than a 480 owner from Finland.

The Field of Participants

Overall, the field of participants was very international. Reflecting the largest markets for the pop-up headlight Volvo, most drivers came from the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Since the 480 was produced in Born at the former DAF plants, it’s no surprise that Dutch vehicles were the most common.

A positive highlight was the large number of young Dutch drivers who enrich the scene and herald a new generation. It was also particularly gratifying to see a few participants from Estonia, Hungary, and Croatia—countries where the 480 is an absolute rarity. In total, vehicles and owners from 17 different countries came to Cologne to celebrate the anniversary of this special model.

Throughout the day, enthusiasts were able to exchange ideas on the spacious grounds of the horse racing track and snag hard-to-find parts at the flea market. This event highlighted the strong sense of community within the scene regarding parts that are no longer available and their DIY reproduction.

In the evening, attendees had the option of enjoying a lavish buffet at the nearby Krewelshof restaurant in Lohmar.

Panoramic Views & Industrial Heritage on Sunday

On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Panabora observation tower was the first destination on the agenda. Many of the Volvo 480 drivers followed the route provided in the roadbook, which featured winding roads and beautiful scenery on the way from the hotel. Once there, a separate parking lot was almost completely filled with vehicles, and a group photo of the participants with a banner was taken at the observation tower. Afterward, there was time to enjoy the view and explore the area.

Another highlight was the visit to Stöffel Park in the Westerwald. For safety, the large convoy was escorted from this point onward by two motorcycles from Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe. The Tertiary and Industrial Adventure Park is an open-air museum, and with its historic industrial buildings from the era of basalt processing, it provided an impressive backdrop for the elegantly designed shooting brakes bearing the Volvo logo.

The final official event of the day was an evening barbecue buffet at the Hotel Schützenhof, which was also supported by Volvo Car Germany and attended by Stefanie Horn from Volvo’s press department. She was impressed by the passion and enthusiasm of the Volvo 480 community.

Conclusion & Outlook for the Next Meeting

Over the course of the weekend, 196 different Volvo 480s gathered—falling just short of the ambitious self-imposed goal of 200 vehicles. This is nonetheless a very impressive number when one considers that, in Germany alone, fewer than 400 vehicles were registered over two years ago—and the trend was sharply declining. It is therefore safe to assume that this number will not be surpassed in the future. It is also worth noting how harmoniously the entire weekend unfolded. Age and nationality played no role; the shared interest brought people together and fostered cross-border friendships.

The next international gathering was announced before the event even ended: It will take place next year to mark the UK launch in 1987, presumably from June 11 to 14 in the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire area.

• Volvo 480 Meet-Up 2026

The Ascension Day weekend of 2026 (May 14–17, 2026) was all about automotive nostalgia in the Paderborn region. For the 50th time, enthusiasts of this Swedish cultural treasure held their anniversary gathering. A total of 25 “Buckelvolvos” (PV444, PV544, and one Duett) with 47 participants from Germany and Switzerland set out to conquer the winding roads of East Westphalia. The weather was at its best, albeit on the chilly side: It was cold, but it stayed dry, and the sun shone on the gleaming car bodies almost nonstop.

Day 1: Technical History, Cake Dreams, and Turning Circle Tests

Dori, the six-year-old granddaughter of organizers Mechthild and Günter Mero, gave the starting signal on Friday morning. She took on the role of starter with a traditional flag and the authority of a seasoned traffic officer.

First Stop: A Journey Through Time at the HNF

The first destination was the renowned Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) in Paderborn. The world’s largest computer museum offered participants a fascinating journey back in time to their own youth. Amid classics like the Commodore C64, the Apple II, and old Atari consoles, many reveled in memories.

As they left the HNF parking lot, minds were racing over the meet’s first quiz question:

Which car was NOT on display at the HNF?

• The DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future?
• The NSU Ro80 from Heinz Nixdorf?

Via Wewelsburg to Dalheim Abbey

After visiting the imposing Wewelsburg, the convoy headed for Dalheim Abbey. In the historic atmosphere of the abbey, huge slices of homemade cake awaited the drivers and their passengers—a culinary delight.

The return trip over the Haxterberg, however, put the drivers’ skills to the test. The problem this time wasn’t the meticulously detailed roadbook, but the classic “following too closely” . Sure enough, some participants missed a turn, which meant the Volvo PV’s turning radius had to be thoroughly—and involuntarily—tested. The fact that every fourth “humpback” contributes a more or less substantial amount to Paderborn’s city coffers wasn’t the roadbook’s fault either. The warning about the speed camera on the B64 was clearly included in it.

At the evening asparagus buffet, all the hardships and frustrations were forgotten, and the car talk continued late into the night.

Day 2: Viaducts, Myths, and Roman History

On the second day, too, the cheerful teams set off highly motivated after a hearty breakfast. Dori, now visibly experienced as a starter, sent the 25 “Buckelvolvos” of this friendly gathering onto the Nordschleife.

First, the “humpbacks” rolled through the mighty arch of the Altenbeken railway viaduct—a dreamlike backdrop for snapshots of the historic vehicles.

The journey continued to the mystical Externsteine. A few particularly athletic participants dared to make the double ascent to the Teufelsbrücke (Devil’s Bridge) and the observation deck and were rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view.

In the Footsteps of the Romans at the Hermann Monument

Just a stone’s throw away lay East Westphalia’s next tourist attraction: the Hermann Monument on the Grotenburg. During an exclusive guided tour, participants learned all about the historic, decisive battle of 9 AD.

The return trip to Paderborn took them, as befits the occasion, along the Gauseköte, a former military road used by Napoleon’s army. This beautiful tree-lined avenue also provided a wonderful backdrop for photos.

A Grand Finale in Paderborn

Back in Paderborn, a real treat awaited the classic car enthusiasts: thanks to a special permit, the 25 Humpback Volvos were allowed to park right in the schoolyard of the Theodorianum Gymnasium in the heart of the city. The vehicles presented a beautiful sight against the historic walls, while participants explored Paderborn’s history on a guided city tour.

In the evening, the festive closing ceremony took place, followed by the long-awaited announcement of the results of the meet-and-greet quiz. This year, Anja Dexheimer and Lasse Ehlers received the coveted challenge cup for the most correct answers amid thunderous applause. Norbert Waldvogel secured the Skandix Wobbling Moose award for the event’s “breakdown vehicle,” as his car simply wouldn’t start on the first day.

A wonderful 50th anniversary that will surely remain in the memories of everyone involved for a long time to come!

This was followed by a car-free Friday featuring a guided tour of the town and a stroll through the small village with its picturesque half-timbered houses. After the obligatory group photos, we walked to the nearby boat dock. The round-trip boat ride to Bonn along the Siebengebirge took three hours and provided plenty of time for conversation. Back in Unkel, we enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine right at the pier in glorious sunshine, because despite the alarmingly poor forecast for these “Ice Saints” days, the weather remained kind and dry for us that Friday and also on Saturday during the outing. We had dinner at the neighboring wine bar “Zur Traube.”

Since there was little space for our competition games at the hotels and their parking lots in Unkel, we drove as a group after the start of the outing on Saturday morning up to the “Erpeler Ley,” a rocky plateau high above the Rhine with a fantastic view. Three of the five so-called “special stages” took place there. After trying to get rings to catch on a moose antler and throwing as many tennis balls as possible into a basket held by the life-size figure of “Saint,” we still had to hit a target with the right rear wheel before continuing on. This was followed by a one-hour drive along scenic back roads to the Confiserie Coppeneur chocolate factory. There, participants had to estimate the number of pralines in a jar before we continued through the Wied Valley toward Waldbreitbach. After our P1800s were parked in a long line and the participants had refueled with a small lunch buffet snack, one final task remained to be completed.

The final leg back to the hotel could be completed individually, with or without additional breaks. At the buffet dinner at the Rheinhotel, the winners of the outing were announced, the challenge cup was passed on, thank-you speeches were given, and future meetings were already mentioned.

On Sunday, we once again parked our cars in a photogenic spot in a parking lot right on the Rhine and then drove to Königswinter to take the historic cogwheel railway up to the summit of the Drachenfels. Unfortunately, it was drizzling a bit and the view was limited. This marked the end of the official part of the gathering, but some participants also visited Drachenburg Castle on their own. Another entertaining gathering was over far too quickly, but many of the participants resolved to return to this beautiful landscape along the Rhine on their own time.

For the 10th time, the 1. Deutscher SAAB-Club e.V. is organizing the popular and now largest regularly held Saab meetup in Germany. The grounds surrounding the Riesenbeck Agricultural Machinery Museum once again provide the perfect setting for a relaxed gathering among like-minded enthusiasts—with plenty of space for numerous vehicles, surrounded by green meadows and mature trees.

As in previous years, many Saabs of all model series and ages are expected to attend. The high concentration of Saabs on site is what makes this event so special and creates a unique atmosphere.

A staple of the event is the awards ceremony with jury voting, during which the most beautiful and interesting vehicles in various categories will be honored in the afternoon.

Fans of spare parts and Saab memorabilia will also find plenty to enjoy: Parts can be offered for free as usual, and suitable areas will be designated on-site.

Refreshments will of course be provided—from coffee and cake to hearty meals and cold drinks, there’s something for every taste.

There are plenty of hotels, guesthouses, and camping options in the area.

Last year, the meet was still held at the AWE Museum in Eisenach and attracted over 120 Volvo and Saab vehicles. In addition to the Top 10 Show & Shine competition, there were various contests and a varied supporting program.

In perfect weather, nearly 150 vehicles and over 200 visitors gathered to spend a relaxed and varied day together celebrating the Swedish brands. Already in the morning, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere prevailed at the “Meet & Greet”: familiar faces were greeted, new connections were made, and numerous conversations about Volvo & Saab took place.

In between, the vehicles on display offered exciting insights for those interested in technology and design. From classics to modern models, everything that makes a Volvo enthusiast’s heart beat faster was represented.

In short: an all-around successful gathering with ideal conditions, great turnout, and above all—lots of fun for everyone involved. The 2026 season has thus been kicked off in fine style!

Organized by the Saab Stammtisch Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg, the event is aimed particularly at fans of the early Saab generations. The focus is on vehicles from the period before General Motors took over—including well-known series such as the Saab 92, Sonett, 93, 95, 96, 99 as well as the classics 900 and 9000.

The historic gas station in Hamburg-Rothenburgsort has established itself in recent years as a fixture on the event calendars of many Saab enthusiasts. This year, too, numerous vehicles and interesting discussions about technology, history, and passion for the brand are expected.

The gathering is all about a casual get-together with a variety of activities spread throughout the day. It kicks off from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a relaxed arrival, getting to know each other, and a “Meet & Greet.”

Starting at 12:15 PM, things will get entertaining with Volvo Pulling—fun and a great atmosphere are guaranteed. At 2:00 PM, the question follows: “How well do you know your Volvo?”—including a skill challenge involving precise parking (forward and reverse) within a marked rectangle.

In between, various vehicles and models will be showcased, so there’s plenty to discover for those interested in technology and design. The awards ceremony will take place around 3:30 PM, before the day winds down in a relaxed atmosphere.

The organizers are also looking forward to more ideas and suggestions from the community.
