Review: 19th Volvo Meetup of the Schleswig-Holstein Volvo Club

On August 30, 2026, it was that time again, and the Schleswig-Holstein Volvo Club had invited members to its 19th gathering at the Kulturlokschuppen in Neumünster.
Although the weather presented us with a few challenges this year, a good 200 weather-resistant Volvo enthusiasts—despite the “high humidity”—made their way to Neumünster with their cars, and the remarkable variety of vehicles made the day a huge success!
To our great delight, many of our fellow Volvo enthusiasts from Sweden and Denmark joined us once again, as well as attendees from nearly all over Germany. It’s not something to take for granted that someone would make the long drive just to spend the day with us.
It’s especially nice to notice the incredible variety of license plates among the lineup of cars. The high level of acceptance for the event across such a large catchment area confirms the success of the regulars’ group’s efforts.
It was also a particular pleasure to be able to present each participating vehicle with a small surprise, thanks to our sponsors—a gesture that was gratefully received.
Equally gratifying was the significant increase this year in the number of guests who came without a Volvo, just to “take a look.” This allowed many to reminisce (“I used to have one of those…”) and perhaps even find themselves wanting to acquire such a gem.
The selection was once again made possible by the complete model range. In addition to the “Buckel,” “Amazon,” and all subsequent models, this year’s event also featured four “Valp” models with different original uses, two former hearses, a decommissioned ambulance, and—as is tradition—a few Saabs. So the grounds were refreshingly colorful.
In addition, visitors were once again able to enjoy the old steam locomotives and all the other treasures at the Kulturlokschuppen Neumünster, which had also opened its doors. Old cars and old railroad history went together perfectly last year and will continue to be part of our event in the future. There’s more to marvel at than just cars. Anyone who’s ever stood next to a steam locomotive weighing around 160 metric tons will surely find themselves captivated by these massive technical relics.
In the tent and on the grounds, there were, of course, plenty of opportunities to refuel with tasty treats and chat with like-minded people.
