This repair kit allows the shaft seal to be re-sealed without dismantling and partial disassembly of the transmission. The shaft seal is replaced by O-rings held by 2 half-shells.
The wire in the set is an assembly aid, the horseshoe-shaped plastic part is for driving in the sealing ring.
The dust protection sleeve (see Skandix 1028091) cannot be remounted because the retaining plate for the repair seal ring is in the way. Otherwise it would not be possible to engage the Reverse gear again.
Service instructions:
On the Volvo S40/V40 there are different selector levers on the gearbox, with or without absorber weight. If an absorber weight is present, it can easily be removed from the lever to mount the repair kit. The weight is not necessary for the gearbox to function.
