Refresh Volvo 700 / 900

13.03.2017

For many of us, the 700 and 900 Volvos are still faithful everyday companions. They have reeled off many kilometres with us and experienced some salty winters. Major technical problems are the exception. But what about the little things, such as optical defects, that creep in over time?

A switch that no longer lights up here, a broken fairing there - many of these details can be brought back into shape with little effort and new parts that are still available.

Enclosed we have prepared some suggestions on how you can make your favourite shine in new splendour:

Dashboard and switches

Long worn out by most: The turning knob for the light switch (1036539) makes the dashboard more attractive again.

Defective and worn window-lift switches can be replaced just as quickly as the cap from the hazard warning switch on the steering column lever (1034328).

Are all the switches in the dashboard still lit? The switches to the left and right of the steering wheel are not lit individually, but are connected with light bars. The light bulb (1048577) + colour cap (1022052) brings light back into the darkness.

Other often needed illuminants:

The storage compartment under the radio (1048517), where the cigar lighter also sits, is lined inside with felt. The felt is fraying or is very dirty on many cars. The compartment is currently still available as a new part. Also a nice detail: the fluted twist knob for the glove compartment (1021765).

The cover of the front centre armrest no longer locks? On vehicles up to 1993, the latch is plastic, consisting of pin in lid (1022949) and counterpart (1022951).

The door handle shells will become greasy or cracked over time. Replacements are still available.

The red push buttons from the seat belt buckles are disintegrating, cracking and pitting. New push buttons (1034049) are quickly fitted.

On the 700 Volvo, the dashboard often has cracks on the top. Complete covers to stick on have been known in the classic car sector for some time, we also have them as cover dashboard for Volvo 740/760 without climate sensor (1047319) or cover dashboard for Volvo 740/760 with climate sensor (1047320).

Exterior

The black plastic of the exterior mirrors fades over time, and scratches come with everyday use: Completely new exterior mirrors enhance the car again.

Also often affected: The door handles. Replacements are available in all black or with chrome trim.

A replacement rubber moulding (1048634) for the no longer available lower trim moulding of the side window from the load compartment "combination window". The rubber strip is originally glued to the trim strip and shrinks due to ageing. We recommend new clips for the trim strip, as these break easily:

Tailgate

The interior trim of the tailgate rattles when the plastic becomes brittle and the clips no longer hold properly. The Tailgate Interior Trim Repair Kit (1009726) solves the problem.

Often completely scratched by loading and unloading: The handle recess in the boot floor (1027786). Another detail: the locking button for the toolbox.

You can do most of these repairs yourself without too much effort. You can also find installation instructions for many parts in our shop with illustrated instructions. You can browse through many other useful parts in the accessories section.
