Lock ring, fuel sensor for Volvo 200

The sheet metal tanks of the Volvo 200 are prone to surprises as they age, as we have mentioned here several times. Modern fuels and environmental influences such as salt, road grime, grit and moisture will eventually corrode even the best sheet metal tank. What happens inside the tank is not so obvious, but that is precisely what can cause the car to break down. Fuel lines and filters clogged with loose rust can almost be considered normal in vehicles over thirty years old. If a carburetor engine does not yet have a fuel filter, we strongly recommend retrofitting one. Once a carburetor is clogged with rust particles, there is hardly any way around disassembly. Often, individual parts such as needles or nozzles then also have to be replaced.
To avoid this, we have had new tanks in our product range for some time now, and the fuel sender unit including the seal for the 200 series Volvo are also available. The locking ring for the fuel sender unit was rarely requested, but we still received it from the vehicle manufacturer. The locking ring is located in a well-protected position at the top of the tank, so it has never come into contact with road salt or fuel to any significant extent in its lifetime. For this reason, it was of course usually reusable.
This seems to have changed in the meantime. Today, the last 240s are over 31 years old, so the locking rings are often no longer in a particularly good condition. Even galvanized sheet metal corrodes at some point, and often they also have traces of not quite correct removal and naturally rust there.
After all, early vehicles may already be on the road with their third tank in unfavorable cases. The demand for the locking rings has increased significantly in recent years, increasing tenfold since 2010.
So we didn't have to think about it for long. Now, for the 50th anniversary of the series, we have had this unassuming but important part produced.
