Brake caliper centring Volvo 140, 164 and P1800

10.08.2015

On the models Volvo 142, 144, 145, 164, P1800 from 1970, P1800ES with 2-circuit brake system there is often the problem that despite correct bleeding of the brake system the pedal travel is too long.

A common cause for this is brake calipers that are not correctly centred to the brake disc. Spacer plates were used at the factory to compensate for manufacturing tolerances on the steering knuckles and the brake callipers for mounting the front Girling brake callipers.

The spacer plates with a thickness of 0.2" are now available again from SKANDIX.

The precisely manufactured plates can also be used twice as a replacement for the 0.4" spacer plate (Volvo 682310).

Besides the pedal travel being too long, a not exactly centred brake caliper can also lead to overheating and premature wear of the brake system. With the SKANDIX spacer plates, a repair according to original specifications is possible with new parts, and the proper function of the brake system is ensured.
