Tube, shift stick stainless steel

Instructions for the replacement of the gear stick tube. We show the assembly on the workbench for a better view. This is usually done in the car.


New stainless tube for the gear lever, SKANDIX item number 1054223.


The original tubes get rusty or internally worn, which may cause a rattling noise.


Remove the gear knob by holding it and loosening the nut below.


Remove the gear knob and the nut.


Remove the circlip.


After removing the spring the tube can be pulled off.

After cleaning all parts, you may find a ridge in the shown area. It can be carefully removed using sandpaper.


Apply some grease to the lower brass shell...


and put it into the cup with the big end facing upwards.


Now you can insert the gear lever. Put some grease on the 2nd brass shell and put it on the top with the big end facing downwards.


Put the spring on top of the brass shell with the bigger diameter facing upwards.


Install the cover with the big hole on top, the backside centers the spring.


Apply the new gasket (yellow). SKANDIX item 1053657.


Apply the cover panel.


We have fixed the cover panel using locking pliers for further assembly.


Lubricate the gear lever.


Put the new tube onto the gear lever until the pin fits into the notch. If it get´s stuck, revise the lever (see step 8).


Install the spring and the circlip.


Mount the nut and the gear knob.


At least it should look like this. Now you can reinstall the gear lever to the gearbox cover.


Install the reverse lockout (marked orange) on the left side in driving direction.


Check with engaged reverse gear.

Done!
