In the upholstery cushions currently available for the front seats of the 700/900 series, no wire frame is foamed into the cushion. This must be taken over from the old cushion.

This wire frame is carefully cut out of the old cushion with a cutter knife or scalpel and the old foam is removed as well as possible. The old cushion should be retained so that the position in the seat can still be clearly seen.

The position of the frame is now transferred as accurately as possible to the new cushion and marked.

In order to correctly countersink the outer, slightly bevelled cross wires and the outer longitudinal wires, the new cushion must be carved.

The central cross wires and the three longitudinal plastic stiffeners do not need to be countersunk in the cushion. However, if you cut into the cushion here, the cushioning effect would be lowered.

Now the tension rod of the seat cover is connected in the middle of the seat surface with upholstery clamps to both the cushion and the wire frame below. The wire has to be pressed a little stronger into the cushion.

Don`t forget the heating mat of the seat heater, it must be put on before the clamps!

Then the outer sides of the covering are connected to the wire frame with 4-5 clamps each.

When mounting the seat cushion, the tension rods of the cover at the front and rear end must first be hooked into the base frame.

It is essential to use the clamps in the middle, never leave them out. Then the side hooks are hooked into the frame and wire frame.

If these instructions are followed, you will get a good seat with new seating comfort.

The upholstery of the driver`s seat shown in the pictures was only replaced for demonstration purposes. But the overstretched fabric and the undercarriage in the seat frame should have been new after nearly 500000 kilometers. Nevertheless, you can drive longer distances with it again comfortably and without complaints!
