20.11.2024Here we show how to install the upper pad and arm rest cover on the door of a P1800S model year 1968 US model.
The recommended adhesive can be used to fix the handle as well (it´s just cosmetic).
The holes for the wire clamps holding the arm rest on the door panel have to be drilled.
Position of the holes.
Drill the holw for the drainage fitting and stick it in.
Attach the arm rest to the door panel.
Fix the wire clamps.
Now back to the upper door panel.
Here you can see the upper door panel and the cover for the old upper pad.
Cut the new scraper to adequate length.
Remove the old scraper.
The scraper is fixed with staples. Cut them, the old scraper will be destroyed.
Aplly adhesive.
Stick the cover to the pad.
Fix the cover until the glue is dry. Later glue the scaper, do not nail it again.
Now we will replace the outer weather strip. First we need to remove the cover plate of the quarter window.
Hook a screwdriver between door and quarter window frame.
Pry a bit and pull the old weather strip upwards.
Be carful, do not damage the trim moulding.
Fix the new weather strip to the trim moulding using the clips.
Merge the trim under the quarter window cover.
And push it back into place.
Attach new foil or protective paper.
Mount the lower door panel.
Fix the support rail.
As the door panel has a flexible cover, the upper door panel has to be tailored behind the door opener.
Carefully separate the cover from the panel.
