Fuel pump installation kit

Volvo 400, 900, S70, V70 (-2000), S90, V90 (-1998), 850

- All required parts are included in this installation kit.
- Tested for flow and pressure systems.
- This installation kit is developed for Volvo and Saab vehicles, but can also be used in other models from various manufacturers.

Preparations

- Read the instructions completely before installation.
- Have the repair carried out at a designated specialist workshop.
- Park the vehicle on a flat and well ventilated surface.
- Open fire or flying sparks are not permitted during installation.
- Have a fire extinguisher ready in case of emergency.
- Before starting the repair, disconnect the ground cable (-) of the battery.
- If the vehicle has just been used, allow all vehicle parts to cool down before working on the fuel system.
- Avoid any equipment, cables or lights that may overheat or cause sparks.
- Avoid inhaling fuel vapours.
- Avoid body contact with fuel or immediately clean the areas of the body that have come into contact with the fuel.
- Wear protective goggles during any repairs.
- If you have no experience in repairing fuel systems, we recommend having the work carried out at a specialist workshop.

Warning: This fuel pump is only suitable for electronic injection systems, not for carburettor systems.

Notes for Volvo 700 and 900


Disassemble the fuel pump, filter and hose.


Cut the foam rubber in half and slide it onto the new fuel pump.


If necessary, place the remaining piece of foam rubber in the pump holder to achieve a better support for the pump.


Fit the new fuel pump, hose, cables and filter.

Notes for Volvo 850, S/V70

Volvo 850s can use two different types of fuel pumps; alternatively, please use the instructions on the next page.


Disassemble the fuel pump.


Place a piece of foam in the pump holder and lu- bricate the pump as well as the interior of the foam
rubber with grease.


Place the fuel pump in the pump bracket and mount the new filter. Using the clamps, attach 100mm of the new hose to the pump and then plug in the wiring harness.


Reinstall the new fuel pump.

Notes for Volvo 850


Disassemble the fuel pump.


Remove the old pump by opening the retainer in two halves.


Put the spring and the rubber ring aside.


Cut the outer rubber ring off the foam rubber pad.


Place the foam rubber on the pump.
Mount 100mm of the new hose on the pump using the clamps.
