Cabin air temperature sensor

Saab 9000

22.12.2021

Replacement manual for the Cabin air temperature sensor at the Saab 9000 with ECC.

The temperature sensor for the climate control is located in the dashboard, next to the ignition lock, under a grille. A small fan sucks air through the sensor.

This small fan can become very loud in the age and thus announce a bearing damage. To put an end to this screeching noise, it can be replaced quite easily.

For disassembly it is more convenient to lever out the surrounding switches.

The climate control unit must also be levered out.

Now, as shown in the picture, remove the grill from the still mounted old temperature sensor and from the new one.

Disconnect the plug from the temperature sensor.

Since the temperature sensor is larger than the cutout in the dashboard, you have to remove it now through the cutout for the climate control panel from the back.

Now insert the new sensor with the seal from the back and put everything back together in reverse order.

Small tip if you have to remove the plugs from switches: It`s a good idea to tie the plugs with a long cable tie to prevent them from disappearing if they slip into the office board.
