This starter is a new part, it is not necessary to return a replacement part. The enclosed metric screws replace the original inch screws. The nut is omitted because the starter flange has threads. It is no longer necessary to hold the nut back during assembly.

In individual cases it may happen that the bell housing does not have sufficient holes for M12 screws. In such a case, the holes in the gearbox must be drilled out to at least 12.5 mm or the starter must be drilled out to 12 mm and correspondingly longer inch screws with nuts must be used.
