Volvo introduced the new Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) with the Volvo 850 and 900 Series.
Behind this system is a special body structure. In a side impact, the forces are not only absorbed by the B-pillar, but are transferred to the beam, floor, roof and other parts of the body. The number and severity of injuries in such accidents has thus been reduced.
Volvo was proud of this safety innovation, as it had been with the lambda sensor, and has supplied new cars from model year 1992 onwards with this sticker on the rear window.
We have now had this sticker newly produced. The correct position is at the bottom right of the rear window.
