The Volvos 960 (up to -1994), 940, 740, 760, 780 were originally equipped with three different steering gear types: CamGear, ZF** and Koyo* (Koyo only on a few Volvo 940s from 1993-1994).

The steering gear Skandix 1006383 (Camgear type) can be used as a replacement for all 3 steering gear types.

ONLY for the Volvo 940 from 1993 to 1994 you have to check which steering type is used, because the Koyo steering gear can only be replaced by Skandix 1006383 in combination with new connecting hoses (Skandix 1016147 & 1026062). Steering type code number:

On the type plate in the engine compartment in the lowest service number the last digit:
1 for Koyo
2 for CamGear
3 for ZF
4 for TRW

Alternatively, with Skandix 1067908, we offer an overhauled original ZF steering gear, which can be used as an alternative to Skandix 1006383 for the true-to original restoration of youngtimers.

WARNING! Please check the universal Joint of the Steering column on free movement and freedom from blacklash. A defective joint will destroy the steering rack.
