If the fuel pump makes an excessively loud pumping noise, the fuel pump itself is not necessarily defective, the pre-supply pump in the tank is often also defective. The fuel pump then has to pump through the defective pre-supply pump and is thus overloaded, which is reflected in excessively loud pumping noises. If the fuel pump has been working like this for a long time, both the fuel pump and the pre-supply pump in the tank should be replaced.

Service instructions:

Volvo 240 1985-, 700,900: The fuel pump is connected to the filter with the plastic pipe Skandix 1027452. The union nut of the plastic pipe fits exactly on the threaded nipple, which is pre-assembled on the pump.
The plastic cable is often damaged during disassembly, which is why non-original repair solutions are found in some vehicles. For safety reasons, you should restore the original state using fuel pipe 1027452.
