Timing chain sprocket crankshaft for Saab 900 and 9000

The camshaft drive is required in every four-stroke engine, as the camshafts must open the valves at half the speed of the crankshaft. Throughout the history of the combustion engine, there have been and continue to be different types of drives, including spur gears, timing belts, vertical shafts, and timing chains. The latter requires comparatively little maintenance in most vehicles, as it usually lasts for several hundred thousand kilometers.
This is also the case with the classic Saab 900 up to 1993 with the B202 or B212 engines. If these were treated and maintained properly, the timing chains could last a very long time. Due to the design, they had to, as the camshaft drive is located in a somewhat difficult-to-reach place on the bulkhead.
If the timing chain has stretched and worn out after high mileage, the sprockets are usually also worn and should be replaced as well. Only then will a new chain have a correspondingly long life expectancy.
However, this has been a real problem recently: sprocket wheels for the crankshaft have not been available for about four years. We tried for a long time to find stock, but without success.
As demand continued to grow, we commissioned new production based on the original documentation, and a small specialist company was able to manufacture the sprockets for us.
The new timing chain sprockets for the crankshaft are now available in our shop under the number 1003976.
