Puller idler arm for Volvo classic cars

18.01.2021

For the Volvo classic cars with Gemmer steering or so called worm steering, we now have a high-quality puller for the idler arm / steering lever in our range. The three tools provided by Volvo for this purpose have been out of stock for a very long time.

We are aware of the difficulties this removal can cause:
Due to age and corrosion, the idler arm sits extremely tightly on the shaft if you ever want to replace the oil seal or the entire steering gear.
Commercially available two- or three-arm pullers without a locking device slip off without holding them in place. Ball joint pullers are undersized. The idler arm should not be heated too much, otherwise it will be unusable.

To avoid this, the new product offers the following advantages:
Our puller is extremely stable, it cannot slip off. Thanks to the trapezoidal thread, it can be used with an impact wrench. However, it can also be held in place with an SW27 spanner, so that the impact spanner is not absolutely necessary.

To remove the idler arm with this puller, the steering gears of most cars have to be removed or loosened. Even if only the sealing ring under the steering arm needs to be changed: It is better to remove it, as the sealing ring can be inserted much more precisely in the vice.

It basically fits all idler arms of the Hump, Duett, Amazon, P1800, 140 and 164.
