New SKANDIX reproduction: Opening window lever release button for Volvo Amazon, P1800, 140 and 164
The release lever knob for opening the hinged windows is made of plastic on the late Volvo 121, P1800 and early 140 and 164. Most plastics used in vehicle construction have run out of plasticisers after about fifty years and have often become brittle due to exposure to sunlight.
This is, of course, especially true of this knob, which sits in an exposed position on the hinged window. It often broke apart or fell off a long time ago. If the locking knob is still present, it is usually unattractively cracked and worn. It has not been available from the vehicle manufacturer for years.
We have now had a high-quality new part made from a very durable material. The hinged window can now be operated properly again and our well-kept classic car is once more a whole lot more beautiful. It is the many little things that turn an old car into a perfect classic car. One of them is this button, which often catches your eye immediately when you open the door.
