Modern car radios and accessories in contemporary design

Various car radios and accessories in the design of the 50s to 90s with modern technology are now available in our shop.

A modern radio in a classic or youngtimer is a break with style and always looks like a foreign body in the dashboard.

This was not the only reason for us to take a look around on the market. Due to the increasingly strict catalogue of requirements for the H-licence plate, unsuitable radios have now also become a point of criticism.

We did not make the choice very easy for ourselves. After all, we wanted to cover the relatively wide range of model years and model series for which we have parts in our range. On top of that, the radios, like modern ones, should at least have Bluetooth hands-free capability and a DAB+ tuner. The former for safety reasons and DAB+ because analogue FM stations are to be switched off at some point. Besides, reception is usually much better with DAB+ and not interrupted by noise.

A contemporary look, preferably exactly like the original radios of the time, was of course the basic requirement.

For vehicles from the 80s and 90s, there is no way around the current Blaupunkt Bremen and Frankfurt radios. They look just like the original radios of the time. The models were in the accessories catalogues of some well-known vehicle manufacturers at the time, for example Porsche. They therefore fit perfectly into Volvo 200, 700, 900 and 850 as well as Saab 900 or 9000. USB connection and a card slot are hidden behind the cassette slot.

For vehicles from the 50s to the 70s, we offer Retrosound radios. They are available with chrome or black trim and buttons to match the look of the vehicle. Until the end of the 60s, vehicles were mostly equipped with painted dashboards with chrome applications, where the chrome trim fits perfectly, for example in Humpback, Amazon, early P1800 or early Saab 96. In the 70s, everything became more sober and safer, often also in black, and the radio manufacturers reacted to this with black trims as well. There, the black retro sound fits Saab 99, late 96s or Volvo P1800, 140 and 164.

All radios offered have contemporary USB connections and preamplifier outputs.

A car radio needs accessories, of course, and until the 90s a so-called radio preparation was often not standard in many vehicles. Loudspeakers, antenna and wiring were usually missing.

Many older vehicles up to the 80s also have no loudspeaker cut-outs or punched holes for them in the panelling and bodywork.

In order not to have to cut any body panels or door panels for the loudspeakers, various forms of surface-mounted or console loudspeakers were already available in the 70s.

Probably one of the best known was the Blaupunkt spherical loudspeaker, which inhabited what felt like every second rear shelf in the 70s and 80s. Blaupunkt reissued this design classic some time ago, so there was nothing more obvious than to include it as a contemporary accessory in our shop.

In the 70s to 90s, multi-way speakers were often found on consoles; they usually provided a broader sound image and did not get in the way on the rear shelf. We have included the Pioneer TS-X150 as a pleasant-sounding representative of this design.

For a richer low-frequency foundation, the Blaupunkt GTW 190A subwoofer can be installed invisibly under most seats. It only needs to be connected to the preamplifier output of the radio and has its own amplifier.

To ensure not only the sound but also good classic FM reception, we have telescopic aerials in various designs, both electric and manual in black or chrome in the shop.

Of course, we also have the necessary installation material such as adapters, connectors, shrink tubing and much more. So that even the installation is fun and the Autohifi works well for a long time afterwards. And it's even more fun when your favourite songs make the rides even more enjoyable.
