LED bulbs with ABE for classic Saab

Drivers of classic Saab 900s can finally enjoy a brighter light: There are now general operating licenses (ABE) for the use of Osram Nightbreaker LED bulbs in the Saab 900 87-93 and Saab 900 from 94 onwards

We have requested ABE from Osram for various classic Saab models and thus initiated a collaboration.

Now the time has come for the much brighter cold white LED lamps to be installed. Gone are the dark days when the Saab driver was blinded by the sight of a modern car.

Fitting the bulbs is quite simple, it is just a little different to a normal bulb replacement. The bulbs can be removed from the socket in advance using a bayonet catch. In most cases, this is necessary as they cannot usually be fitted in one piece.

The stickers supplied with the bulbs must be attached to the headlights as they are part of the ABE. Failure to do so can lead to problems in the event of a traffic check or HU.

Important: bulbs must always be replaced in pairs. Otherwise an error message will appear on vehicles with bulb monitoring. After fitting, the headlight setting must be checked and usually also adjusted.

It is very important to compare the existing headlights in the vehicle with Osram's compatibility list (see link) beforehand:

The ABE are linked to specific headlamps with the respective E-mark. If the headlamp is not on the list, it must be replaced with an approved one if the Nightbreaker LED is to be used.

The approved headlights are also not always necessarily the original ones: On the Saab 900 to 93, for example, the original headlamp is not approved for LED, its cut-off line was not sufficient. However, our repro headlights 1002942 and 1002943 are approved here.

Your vehicle is not listed? We are sorry, but then the headlights have not passed the test and there will be no ABE.

Unfortunately, we are unable to answer any queries about this, as the light image was checked by Osram.

Also of interest are the LED bulbs from Osram, which are suitable as retrofit bulbs for conventional W5W bulbs and bases. These are suitable for use in all 12V vehicle models behind white glass as parking, position, marker, license plate and interior lights.

The retrofit LED is available in our webshop under article no. 1094791. It can be used in the vehicle without checking the headlight approval number.
