Inner fender Saab 900 (-1993)

A classic Saab 900 from the last years of production up to 93 (convertible up to 94) is a solid, well-built car that, like many others from the era, only offered rust a late attack surface if it was not subsequently re-preserved.
Due to its unconventional, but nevertheless well thought-out design, the first sources of rust are usually in other places than the average of many other manufacturers. On the one hand, this concerns the drive shaft tunnels often mentioned in buyer's guides, which are also known to be a weak point in the Saab 99, and on the other hand, the front wheel arches are often affected by rust.
This is due to the somewhat peculiar design with sheet metal inner fenders welded to the outer fenders. They give the front end additional rigidity, but are naturally more susceptible to rust than plastic wheel arch liners.
In many conventionally designed cars, this problem is otherwise only known from the rear axle.
We have had the front mudguards 1003061 (left) and 1003062 (right) for the 87-93 models reproduced for several years, but as they are welded to the inner mudguards and therefore form overlapping panels, the inner mudguard is usually just as rusty.
It therefore became clear relatively quickly that we also wanted to have the inner fenders produced as a complete part according to the original pattern. Unlike a repair panel, they should enable a repair that is as true to the original as possible.
The reproduced inner fenders have already been available in our store for several years under the numbers 1017908 (left) and 1017909 (right). Nevertheless, we are often asked about them and would therefore like to mention them again at this point. Many Saab 900 drivers are not aware that this repair option exists.
