Glove Compartment Latch Lever for Volvo 200

16.10.2026

The glove compartment in the Volvo 240 or 260 is solidly built compared to other vehicles. The generous storage space inside makes it ideal for everyday use. The front-seat passenger will surely appreciate the mirror built into the lid. The recessed area in the lid and the horizontal opening position make it easy to set down a drink during a break.

Of course, all of this only works reliably if the stops—referred to as “retaining levers” in the Volvo parts catalog—are intact. They’re actually quite sturdy, but especially as the vehicle ages, the plastic brackets tend to give out and break under heavy loads.

Some of the glove compartment’s features then become virtually unusable; on top of that, the lid and compartment suffer excessive wear and may break off.

Until recently, the vehicle manufacturer was still able to supply the stops, but unfortunately that has now come to an end, and it seems there won’t be any more.

We immediately took this as an opportunity to have the parts manufactured ourselves. Of course, we installed and tested the first prototype—it fits, is sturdy, and looks just like the original.

Installation is straightforward. First, the glove compartment must be removed; it’s held in place by just nine screws in the dashboard. The only part that sometimes requires a bit of patience is unclipping the stopper from the flap—the locking tab can be a bit tight. Then simply slide the stopper out, insert the new one, and snap it into place.

The new “parking levers” are now available in the shop under part number 1030214.

Compatible with the following models:

  • Volvo 240, 260, 262 models from 1981 onward
