Battery tray for Volvo 700, 900 and S90 / V90
31.01.2025The battery compartment is one of the classic places where corrosion problems arise in vehicles with a self-supporting sheet steel body. Sulfuric acid leaking from the battery destroys painted surfaces, and if the paint has come off, it then rusts at an alarming rate.
If the battery compartment on the other side is also bombarded by the wheels with dirt, stones and road salt, then it certainly can't last forever.
Admittedly, this is complaining on a high level with the Volvo 700 and 900, as the cars have been on the road for at least two lifetimes. The body was very well made, with high-quality paintwork, and there was a plastic tray under the battery for protection.
Nevertheless, this sheet metal has become a classic spot for corrosion damage, especially because of its position behind the headlight. Even otherwise well-maintained cars are often affected by rust in this area. At some point, even the best paintwork is powerless against battery acid and road salt.
Many Volvo 700 and 900s have already been repaired more or less successfully in these areas. One of the reasons for this is certainly the availability of the appropriate sheet metal part. Neither repair sheets nor the original part have been available in recent years. NOS original parts or usable used body panels have virtually disappeared from the market.
We now offer precisely fitting repair sheets for the battery trays, which have been manufactured according to the original pattern and enable a faithful repair.
The battery holders are available in our shop under the numbers 1036585 (left) and 1030691 (right).
