Volvo 850

Jouffa sent us pictures of his 1996 Volvo 850 with a 2.4-liter 5-cylinder (144 hp) engine. The car now has an impressive 362,000 km on the odometer.
Its history is extraordinary: originally purchased by an elderly couple, the 850 passed into the possession of Jouffa's current boss after their death. It then stood unused for an incredible 20 years in an old munitions factory until Jouffa was finally able to purchase it – for a fitting €850.
Since then, the car has been completely refurbished step by step: the headliner has been reupholstered, the engine has been completely overhauled, defective components such as the headlight cleaning system have been repaired, and the interior has been converted to partial leather seats. The lighting, seat belt systems, and pedals have also been modernized.
The plans for the future are ambitious: a trumpet intake with ITBs, a new catalytic converter, a stiffened chassis with new bearings, a half-shell seat, a smaller steering wheel, and a roll cage. In addition, a C70 carrier will ensure better cornering. New Team Dynamics Pro Race rims with Falken RT660 tires round off the project.
The photos impressively show how the Volvo has evolved from a long-disused find to a technically and visually upgraded collector's item.
