Reversing Choke cable inside the Engine compartment

04.02.2019

The Volvo P1800 Jensen and P1800S with SU HS-6 twin carburettor have a reversing in the engine compartment (Skandix 1071304), which connects the choke cable coming from the operating handle (Skandix 1070300) with the double choke cable running to the carburettors (Skandix 1018564). The new reversion solves the following problem: Too high operating forces due to sluggish choke cables bend the reversing. The choke can then no longer be operated correctly, is stuck and is difficult to move. An adjustment of old but smooth-running choke cables, and also the renewal of the choke cables does not bring then any success. We show how to replace the reversing in a few easy steps.

In case that the bowden cables are not to be replaced, measure the overhang of the cable core to safe the basic adjustment.
After that you can release all clamping screws and take the cables aside.

Undo the fastening screws. They can be reused or replaced (Order 2 pcs. Skandix 1031278 + 2 pcs. 1011166).

Insert the cables into the reversing and clamp them in the pristin position (See Step 1).

Now approve the correct operating of the choke and adjust if necessary.
