Manual for retrofitting the brake booster Skandix 1072932 at a Volvo Amazon. The shown car is a 1964 Amazon with front disc brakes. The manual also includes assembling the bracket 1072964.

The bracket Skandix 1072964 must be mounted to the left wheel housing. Our pictures shows the correct installation position.

Mark out holes, pre-grain, drill and deburr.

Seal the holes with paint and mount the bracket. Suitable installation hardware 5/16" UNC:
4 pcs. Screw 1031982
4 pcs. Spring washer 1011168
4 pcs. Nut 1027921
4 pcs. Washer 1011173

Mount the brake booster 1072932 to the bracket. Suitable installation hardware 3/8" UNC:
3 pcs. Screw 1011142
3 pcs. Spring washer 1011167

The Nut in the front of the vacuum unit can be used to mount an additional holding strut but this is not necessary here. You can simply tighten the nut.

The brake fluid must be evacuated from the master cylinder, the brake lines until the junction and the old vacuum servo unit if it exists.

Bend the brake line and set the fittings. Set and bend the brake lines careful. They must not rub at another parts. The smallest bending radius has to be bigger than three times the diameter of the lines. Don`t bend down the brake lines!

The line from the master cylinder (1020182) leads to the brake servo on the vacuum side, the other line (1020184) leads from the booster exit at the rear to the junction.

If there was`t any brake servo before, screw out the hexagon or square socket worm screw and attach the connection stud for the vacuum hose. The square version can be carefully removed using the 1/4" square end of a wrench even it it does not fit for 100%.

Now set the negative pressure hose and clamp it with brackets. This hose also should not rub at another part.

Now fill in the brake fluid and bleed the brake system. Then you are ready with the retrofit or exchange of the brake booster. The brakes of your car are much easier to handle now!
