Remove the propeller shaft and put it on the work bench. Mark all alignment of the parts, the propeller shaft has to be assembled exactly the same as it was, since it was balanced in one piece.

Remove all four C clips

You can use a socket that is slightly larger on the inside than the bearing caps as a support tool.

Press out the universal joint with a hammer and a slightly thinner socket than the bearing cap. You can use a hammer or a hydraulic press.

Remove lower bearing cap. Here you can see why this universal joint needed replaced: The seal is worn out and the bearing needles rusted away.

Turn around the prop shaft, remove the universal joint to the top - press out the other bearing cap in the same way as the other one.

You can also do this work with a hydraulic press.

Clean all of the parts properly! Insert the new universal joint without the bearing caps and then push in the two bearing caps from the outside.

Press the bearing caps into position.

Install the new C clips.

Insert the new universal joint in the other half of the propeller shaft, push in the bearing caps from the outside and press them in carefully. Install C clips afterwards.

Install grease nipple and grease the new universal joint.

new universal joint installed, the propeller shaft is ready for many kilometers again.
