16.01.2025replacement solution for the windshield trim of the Saab 9000. The complex original solution was no longer available, so we developed a rubber trim instead that almost looks the same and is way cheaper and easier to install.
Silicone remover and glue are recommended for the installation of the new trim.
Clean the new trim piece with silicone remover and paper towels.
Inject a thin layer of glue on the groove of the trim. It is recommended to do this in smaller steps, otherwise the glue might not stick anymore.
Start on the bottom of the windshield in the middle. Put the rubber trim on the glass and secure it in place with tape.
Take care on the corners of the windshield.
Cut the rubber to the needed length, leave a little bit more than necessary, so the ends will push themselves together when installed.
Glue the ends carefully together.
Make sure the rubber trim is properly put on the glass all the way around and let the glue harden.

Apply the glass glue in a V shape according to the manufacturers advice.
In the corners you might want to use a little more glue.
put some tape on the roof.
Put the windshield in the car with two people.
Check the proper seating of the windshield.
New rubber trim installed: Same look and fuction as the original solution: The windshield frame is completely covered.
When the glass glue is hardened completely, you might want to apply some extra butyl sealant under the rubber trim to prevent water and dust to collect under the rubber.
Press the rubber trim onto the car when you applied fresh extra sealant and remove excess sealant.
Windshield installed - clean result!
