Repair kit connector fuel filter
11.10.2023The clamp connection on many older Volvo petrol engines by using an SAE connector on the fuel filter can be problematic with age, because the SAE connector can be destroyed when it is loosened. The vehicle manufacturer has always offered only the complete fuel line as a replacement for this. Since many of these are no longer available and it is also an expensive matter, we have put together an economical repair kit. This allows the section of the line with the connector to be replaced in a time-saving manner.
Components of the repair kit: SAE connectors, clamps, support sleeves, some fuel hose and plastic line.
Cut the original fuel line straight at a suitable point or cut it with a matching pipe cutter and insert a support sleeve into both the sawed-off line and the repair piece. Do not cut the plastic line with pliers!
Carefully shrink the line onto the support sleeve with hot air. The support sleeves are absolutely mandatory in the plastic line under a clamp!
The hose section is now fitted with the clamps.
Push the hose as a connection onto the two pipe ends with the support sleeve so far that the clamp sits behind the flare of the support sleeve.
Now press the ear clamps with suitable pliers. If no special pliers are available, this can also be done carefully with a monier or pincher.
Now the SAE connector is pushed into the remaining end of the pipe and also shrunk on.
The repair of the connector is now complete and the SAE connector can be attached to the new filter.
Done! After start-up, of course, check all connections for leaks.
