Mounting kit Tailgate Spoiler

22.12.2021The supplied metal brackets are equal to the lates Version which has been introduced by Volvo in app. 1998. They also replace the old verison. Because of that vehicles up to 1997 must be converted to the new brackets.

The kit supplies:
- 2 pcs. brackets, to be painted
- 4 pcs. Screws for mounting the spoiler to the brackets
- Rubber strip for manufacturing underlayers
- High quality body glue which replaces the self-adhesive pads
Genuine bracket, new version.
The genuine bracket has a rubber underlayer.
Undo the torx screws from the spoiler and pull the brackets off to the rear. They are simply put over the hinges, at this point there are no screws.
Put the new bracket above the hinge and provisionally mount the spoiler with one new screw. Measure the cap between the bracket and the hinge to know the necesary thickness of the rubber underlayer.
The width of the rubber strip is equal to the bracket.
Manufacture a rubber underlayer by cutting 1,5cm long pieces.
The necessary thickness of the underlayer varies from vehicle to vehicle.
Increase the thickness by stagging rubber strips. Add a drop of the supplied glue as a mounting aid.
Place the underlayer between bracket and hinge.
Assemble the new screws from the kit. Tighten the lower screw first. Attention: Do not overtighten (hand-tighten), otherwise the spoiler will be damaged!
The rubber pad must now be so thick that it is firmly clamped between the bracket and the tailgate - there must be no gap.
