Conversion Headlight (USA version)

Saab 900 (-1993)

26.11.2024

Sealed beam headlights specific to the USA are no longer available for the classic SAAB 900. Below we show how our new European H4 headlights with adapter set can be used on vehicles in the USA version.

New headlights

This is the cloudy original with broken headlamp adjusters.

Release the hood, disconnect the headlamp connecting wires and remove the bulbs, then close the hood but do not latch it. Begin by removing the 3 grille screws. Torx or 8mm screws. Plastic tabs at the bottom of the grill plug into the bumper cover.

Remove the upper headlamp screws. Place all screws removed in a safe place!

Turn signal retaining screw is next! Clipnut is reused.

Note special shaped washer.

Remove lower bracket screw from headlamp. Now the headlamp will be removable from the front of the car. I only removed the headlight wiper blades, not the wiper arms. The headlamp is nested into the turn signal.

You also have to remove this sheet metal nut; it is also needed on the new headlight.

This rubber damper also has to be used again, otherwise the new headlight will wobble.

Install the speed nuts and rubber damper on the new headlight. If your vehicle is equipped with an electric height adjustment, the servomotor must also be taken over from the old headlight.

REVERSE PROCEEDURES TO INSTALL LAMPS IN CAR.

You can see it again in this picture:
-The position of the turn signal speed nut (A)
-The position of the rubber damper (B)
Plug the included adapter with the blue plug into the vehicle wiring harness and the orange plug on the H4 bulb in the headlight. The rubber sleeve must be locked in the hole in the headlight housing.
