Brake power regulator Kit

Volvo 121, P1800

09.12.2021

We show how to replace the brake power regulating valves on the Volvo Amazon, 140, 164, P1800, P1800ES with 2-circuit brake system. We have done the repair on a Volvo P1800ES from 1973.

The old control valves. New brake hoses have already been installed on our example vehicle.

Pinch off the brake hoses, e.g. with our calipers 1014295, if they are not to be replaced (item number 1000810). Loosen the brake hoses.

Loosen the brake line with an 11mm brake line wrench, item number 1015498.

Remove the valves from the underbody, nut size 1/2".

Hold the brake hose firmly and turn off the valve. Replace the copper sealing ring, item number 1010682.

Screw the brake hose onto the new valve by hand in the same way.

Attach the brake line to the valve and fasten it hand-tight first.

Now mount the new valve on the underbody, the matching screws and spring washers can be found under item number 1011136 and 1011168.

Now tighten the brake hose. Make sure that the hose is correctly installed in the correct position (not twisted, if necessary, correct it on the line on the rear axle).

Now tighten the brake line.

Repeat the work on the other side. Important: The brake system must now be bled according to the manufacturer`s instructions! After the leakage test you can preserve the new valves with anti-corrosion wax, e.g. item 1015347. Finished!
