If there is play in the gearstick, it is not always the gearstick cables or the gearstick lever that are to blame: This spring pin can be worn out at higher mileages. It secures the lever of the shift shaft on the gearbox. At higher mileages, the spring pin is worn and the lever has play on the shaft.
