In the case of heavily used ignition locks, new ignition start switches may also "stick" due to the play of the lock cylinder and ignition lock housing. With careful operation this is relatively harmless. It may happen that the "sticky" disappears after a while because the components interact with each other.
To eliminate the problem completely, the complete ignition lock plus starter switch would have to be replaced.
