Steering angle limiter kit SMI for Volvo S60, S80, V70 P26 and XC70

21.03.2025

As with its predecessor, the Volvo V70, XC70, S60 and S80 from 2001 and 1999 respectively also require a steering angle limiter if you want to fit slightly wider tires.

With the SMI steering gears, this is done using plastic sleeves that limit the path of the steering rack in the steering gear behind the axial joint.

The steering stops are necessary here from a tire width of 215 and reliably prevent the front wheels from scraping anywhere when the steering is turned.

Grind wheels legitimately prevent a successful general inspection or their entry in the vehicle documents. Apart from unsightly scuff marks in the wheel arch liner, the tires can, for example, rub dangerously thin and cause scratches on the rim or suspension.

The steering angle limiters have been omitted by the vehicle manufacturer for some time, but the demand for wheel conversions is not waning, so we had the plastic parts reproduced and put the set back together.

SMI steering gears were installed in models up to 2003. If you are unsure, you can find out the exact number of the steering gear using the chassis number via the Volvo parts program Vida. We are happy to help.

Installation is quite simple and only requires the axial joints on the steering rack to be removed.

The replacement for both sides is now available in our shop under the number 1026635. You can also find suitable products for other vehicles in the steering stops section.
