Nivomat conversion kits to standard shock absorbers for many Volvo models

Nivomats are a great invention, as they automatically keep the loaded vehicle on an even level without the driver having to intervene. Even heavily loaded station wagons equipped with Nivomats are level again after a few meters of driving and retain almost the same driving comfort as the unloaded car.

However, if the Nivomats are faulty, it can be expensive: as the warranty is only granted if the springs are also replaced, and on top of that there are also cuffs or suspension strut bearings, this can quickly add up to 1500 euros or more - not including labor costs.

If you rarely or never load your car heavily, you can do without this extra, as the driving characteristics are almost identical with normal shock absorbers when the vehicle is lightly loaded. This quickly makes you wonder whether this luxury is really necessary.

It doesn't have to be: many older Volvos can be converted to normal shock absorbers. Even then, of course, the springs have to be replaced because the Nivomat springs are significantly softer.

If the Nivomat suspension springs were fitted with normal shock absorbers, the rear would sag significantly when unloaded, the vehicle would be extremely sensitive to crosswinds and the handling characteristics would be dangerous.

We now offer complete conversion kits to standard shock absorbers, which cost only a fraction of the Nivomats and thus enable an inexpensive repair that is often also in keeping with the current value.
